Run 24:1 2019 programme details confirmed

Programme details for the 2019 edition of Run24:1, a worldwide celebration of running, have now been confirmed.

Once again, the date centers on Global Running Day which this year takes place on June 5. One of the goals of the 2019 Run 24-1 campaign is to establish a week-long Global Running Festival in order to share the joy and health benefits of running, the world’s most popular sporting activity.

The Programme

Saturday 1 June – the opening event with a kick-off mile run to coincide with the inaugural IAAF Global Running Conference at Lanzhou, China. More than 600 running event organisers will participate in the conference.

Sunday 2 June – the main “24-1” event, to be hosted by 24 cities around the world, starting in the Pacific island of Fiji then heading west until the closing event in Los Angeles.

Wednesday 5 June – a kids mile run, from 10am-noon. Working in partnership with sport and education ministries, all IAAF Member Federations are encouraged to celebrate Global Running Day by staging a Kids Mile Run that involves primary schools and local sports clubs.

Friday 7 June – the closing event. Organised in cooperation with the Principality of Monaco and local sports authorities, IAAF Council members and staff, joined by many local sporting stars who live in the Principality, will gather to participate in a symbolic closing mile run.
