June 2! Date set for 2019 IAAF Run 24:1

The second edition of IAAF Run 24:1 has been set for June 2, 2019.

Once again, 24 cities in 16 time zones will host this series of one-mile runs to celebrate the spirit of Global Running Day.

Partnering with sports ministries, city governments, race organisers and member federations around the world, this initiative by the IAAF, the sport’s global governing body, incorporates races held in two dozen cities in 24 countries on six continents across 16 time zones to create a worldwide celebration of running.

More than 12,000 runners participated in the inaugural IAAF Run 24:1 in 2018, taking to the streets in 24 cities across 15 time zones. The goal of the campaign was to inspire and motivate individuals and communities to participate in the world’s most accessible sport and experience the excitement and fun of running. The result was the largest continuous one-mile run to ever take place across multiple cities in 24 hours.

Last year’s global celebration of running began at the Silverdale Primary School in Auckland, New Zealand, where 650 elementary school children took centre stage, and ended on the west coast of North America in Vancouver.
