Cuban Olympic medallists out in force for Havana’s IAAF Run 24-1

As was the case last year, a host of Cuban athletics legends turned out in Havana for IAAF Run 24-1.

Race manager Alberto Juantorena, the 1976 Olympic 400m and 800m champion, was joined by city captain Javier Sotomayor, the high jump world record-holder, in the Cuban capital along with fellow Olympic medallists Ana Quirot, Dayron Robles, Maria Caridad Colon and Roberto Hernandez.

They were among the 500 participants lining up at the Paseo del Prado on a warm and sunny day in Havana, the Central American leg of IAAF Run 24-1.

The focus, though, was more on the people who were running their #FirstMile
